Use lights on bikes

Bonnie Brae Street is a paved county road north of Denton and it does not have any side-riding area for bicycles. This road is used constantly by groups and single riders.

Caution is advised to automobile drivers when passing these riders.

The other night, I approached a single rider and he was outstanding. This rider had flashing lights on the back of his bike, a jacket with reflective stripes, a headlight on his bike and a light on his cap.

I was able to see him far away so I slowed down when we passed.

I commend this rider for using items for his safety and the safety of my car to avoid an accident. I encourage bike riders to continue and make use of the safety lights.

Ray Roberts,
