Best bang for our buck

I am pro convention center/hotel if it includes an entertainment district and benefits the residents of Denton. I am against the current proposal going forward as planned.

One major flaw with the current proposal is it takes money from our schools. Furthermore, the residents pay $25 million for the building and do not own the land. How many on the City Council are leasing their homes?

The proposed site is land-locked (Google maps — Apogee Stadium, Water Works Park in Denton. Compare the satellite view).

My proposal: Build a hotel/convention center near Water Works Park, the LaGrone Advanced Technology Complex, C.H. Collins Athletic Complex and add Dave & Busters and Top Golf.

The result is a hotel, convention center, entertainment complex, water park and stadium with room to grow.

My plan brings increased business to the water park. The Denton school district would receive tax dollars and employment opportunities for ATC students (i.e. valets, catering).

It is located in the center of the city — Texas Woman’s University, University of North Texas, downtown, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Sally Beauty Supply headquarters, county offices, outlet mall, Rayzor Ranch and Golden Triangle Mall are all minutes away.

It would result in additional Denton County Transportation Authority traffic.

Imagine, a major music festival site where families can watch live concerts, go swimming, shop, visit local booths/vendors, go bowling, eat dinner and then stay after hours (all in one complex).

Please help me get the best bang for our buck.
