The Denton Record-Chronicle welcomes letters to the editor pertaining to the March 4 primary elections. Letters must follow all regular submission rules. Election letters had to be received in this office by 5 p.m. Feb. 20; none will be published after Feb. 27.
If you are a Republican primary voter and you care about public education, please take notice.
Myra Crownover is clearly the best choice for state representative in the Republican primary. Her opponent, Read King, is heavily backed by a PAC out of Central Texas that spent over $300,000 trying to defeat 14 school bond issues in North Texas last November.
The group is led by Austinite Michael Quinn Sullivan, a special interest lobbyist who bullies elected officials with misleading scorecards.
Myra voted to restore funding for public schools and to reduce testing in the 2013 session. She also restored funding to a wonderful dropout prevention program. Myra is a former teacher, and unlike her opponent, her kids attended Denton public schools.
The choice is clear. Myra knows that the public schools are the heart of a community, and a guardian of our democracy. Her opponent is backed by anti-public school extremists from Austin.
I strongly urge you to vote for Myra Crownover.
