Get act together

Dear Michael Burgess, Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, shame on all of you. We elected you to do a job. We pay your salaries and you work for us.

How can any of you justify your job while holding the citizens of the U.S. hostages to your incompetence to do the job you were hired to do?

The lobbies you work for do not represent the majority of us hard-working people, so I would like to say to you, get your act together or get out.

Joe Spafford,

Denton

Remedial reading

It is questionable that many members of Congress and our upper staff of government don’t know how to read. I think we should start a special reading/understanding course concerning some of the amendments to our Constitution.

I would recommend that they review, and have someone read the following amendments to each of them.

•  Amendment 2: “A well-regulated militia, necessary for security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed”;

•  Amendment 4: “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated ...”;

•  Amendment 5: “A person shall not be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of the law”; and

•  Amendment 6: “A person shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial by a jury if a crime has been committed.”

It is sad how our current commander in chief would like to remove these amendments and write his own.

His type is normally called dictator, not president. We have four expensive and sad years ahead of us.
