Letters to the editor, August 20

Foundation rock

It was a packed house at Banter Bistro in downtown Denton on Aug. 11 for a benefit performance by a very talented local band, Denton Rock, which put on an entertaining show with classic rock and roll.

All proceeds went to the Denton Animal Shelter Foundation. The foundation raises funds to help the city shelter get more abandoned pets adopted by providing adoption subsidies and emergency medical funds.

The foundation has also raised $2 million toward the new shelter that is now under construction.

The concert was a great example of community support for shelter pets and indicative of Denton’s generosity.

It’s always a pleasure to see a band having fun onstage and interacting with the audience, which was well received. A “large time” was had by all who attended, as was evidenced by a standing ovation after Denton Rock’s last song.

Way to go, Denton Animal Shelter Foundation. Let’s do it again.
