Letters to the editor, October 24

The Denton Record-Chronicle welcomes letters from our readers about the Denton school district’s $312 million bond package. To be considered for publication, letters must be in our office by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28. No letters about the bond election will be published after Saturday, Nov. 2.

Some suggestions

Before offering a few suggestions to the Denton school district board, I’d like to say how awesome of a job the members are doing. Their forward thinking and planning has allowed them to stay in front of growth and manage finances diligently.

One forward-thinking plan they’ve implemented is to have their architect design one plan for our elementary schools in order to cut back on architectural costs for future schools.

Because of continued growth, I’d like to suggest they consider having their architect now design a larger elementary campus that would house more students and allow us to cut back on continuously building.

Also, the upcoming bond looks to build a ninth-grade addition for Guyer High School.

Rather than continuing to make one school bigger and better, it’d be nice to see the bond consider painting the interior green walls and update the green floors at Denton High School, as well as needed updates at Ryan High School rather than adding on to an already new, up-to-date school.

These are just a couple of suggestions that I’m hoping DISD will consider. And as always, keep up the great work.
