Why pay?

I hope many of you are enjoying the college football season as much as I am.

We may be able to enjoy it a bit more if the University of North Texas approves beer sales, as long as the rowdies don’t get too rowdy.

Again, there is a campaign, not necessarily here, but around the country to pay college athletes beyond tuition and room and board.

After all, beside attending classes, they have to do one-a-days, two-a-days, sweat and freeze out on the field, are susceptible to injuries — some lifelong injuries — and on top of that they have to maintain a grade-point average.

But after all, why pay them? They are compensated enough. You see ... they get all the girls.
