Primary runoff election letters must be received in this office by 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15; none will be published after Tuesday, May 20.

Free speech for all

Great news, there is legislation introduced by the American Center for Law and Justice (H.R. 127) that will challenge and defeat the Johnson law of 1954, which suppresses free speech of pastors and churches.

I wrote about this liberty-destroying law [DRC, Feb. 6 and 26, 2013], that clearly violates the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.”

For decades, the leftist Democrats have used the IRS as a weapon to intimidate and suppress Christians and constitutionalists.

It was the Christian influence that was the essential piece in bringing an end to slavery and establishing civil rights; while the Democrats established racial divisions, as they do today. Apostle Paul stated, “We are not in a war of flesh but of spirit.”

It is odd and rotten to me that our own government and some individuals would be against the free speech of our churches. That is the basis of what our country was built on.

But we are fortunate to be in a country where we actually can choose our leaders and direct our nation. We are called to be “salt and light,” not “a lamp under a bowl.” (Matthew 5:15)

Tell your family and friends and help put an end to the unconstitutional intimidation of our places of worship; write our senators and congressmen and call them at 202-224-3121 and tell them to vote for H.R. 127.
