Let private parties pay

I agree with the idea of having an election on whether to remove Confederate statues or change names of schools named after Confederates.

All parties should agree on two things before an election: Voters must be Denton County residents and, if the election calls for statue removal or school name change, let private parties pay for the changes. Tax money should be spent for more pressing things.

Dallas is spending in excess of $1 million for removal of the Robert E. Lee statue from Lee Park. This is not counting costs for street name changes and cost to residents and businesses to change toll tags, utility bills, business signs, etc.

The people wanting the statue removal and street and school name changes should have to pay for these things and not taxpayers. Give this some thought and let your city and county officials know how they should spend your tax money.
