Before the formal dedication of the new Rodriguez Middle School on Dec. 4, family, friends and colleagues attending the event were treated to a tour of the school that bears our family name. They were all impressed with the beauty of the school and its many new designs that buck traditional education practices.
Our exemplary Denton school district with its many creative thinkers and leaders has planted a seed in this phenomenal facility through its new innovations that inspire good teaching and student learning.
All major Denton ISD school leaders were present to join guests in the celebration of this state-of-the-art facility: Superintendent Jamie Wilson and members of the DISD board of trustees: Mia Price, Dorothy Martinez, Charles Stafford, Barbara Burns, Jim Alexander, Doug Chadwick and Jeanetta Smith.
The extraordinary and dedicated corps of Rodriguez Middle School teachers, led by Renee Koontz, school principal, and her administrative staff, also have reason to celebrate the precious gift of a modern 21st century school.
And, yes, they too deserve a badge of honor. For they are giving life to a beautiful new school that is poised to produce future scientists, teachers, entrepreneurs, lawyers and who knows, maybe a president or two!
