America blessed

Let us this Christmas season and New Year remember God's blessings and keep his commandments. Our nation has been blessed because the United States was established on the Bible.

That is not to say we are perfect, far from it. But we strive toward a perfect mission. And most important, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord (Jesus Christ) will be saved." -- Romans 10:13

"God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." -- Romans 5:8

Let us not forget the path our nation took to get here and rebuff those who hate good, honor and our nation.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." -- Benjamin Franklin

Essentially an art gallery

I was happy to see Denton Dammit (Dec. 21) give a shout out to John Riegelman, facilities manager for the Greater Denton Arts Council. However, I would question whether the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center (PAAC) is pretty much a community center, as you write.

The PAAC has limited hours: It is closed Sunday and Monday and only open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday).

The PAAC is excellent at what it does, but it is essentially an art gallery that rents out space for weddings and meetings, and sponsors some art groups and classes.
