Ride safe

In regards to the editorial "Bring mandatory helmet law back" on July 6: A mandatory helmet law is not the solution for motorcycle accident prevention. Education, safe riding practices and awareness are.

While the latest accident that killed two young people is lamentable, it could have been prevented. According to preliminary reports, the rider failed to navigate the curve at an Interstate 35W exit ramp and was traveling at a speed that was too fast to make the curve.

Riders ages 16 to 24 could benefit from annual renewals of the Class M license with completion of a motorcycle safety course. Although that is not the current law, it is still a good idea.

And, of course, vehicle drivers should be more aware of motorcycles on the road, especially during warmer weather when they are out in abundance. Look twice before changing lanes, increase following distance and use extra caution at intersections.

Watch out for motorcycles.

Wealth redistribution

If God were to stop the world tomorrow and redistribute wealth so that every person on earth had exactly the same amount of money and possessions, and then restart the world, within two months we would have some very rich people and some very poor.

It was no less an expert than Jesus Christ who said: The poor you will always have with you.

Some of the correspondents herein want to continually raise taxes on the rich. They should buy a ticket to Venezuela to see the paradise they desire. As British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher put it so beautifully: "The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

Psychoanalyze yourself

Liberal Democrats will never try to understand why the rest of America voted for Donald Trump. I would never have voted for Hillary Clinton, no matter who was running against her.

There are lots of things I don't like about Trump. But check out the rock stars for Democrats: Bill Clinton is a sex predator and Obama pledged to "fundamentally change America."

You liberals forgave any and every action of these two. They could do no wrong.

Psychoanalyze yourself on those attitudes, you big hypocrites.
