A man accused of robbing a Haslet bank while dressed in drag last week has been arrested on a charge of aggravated robbery, a Tarrant County official said.
Justin Frank Merideth, 36, was being held in the Tarrant County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on Wednesday after being arrested by Tarrant County Sheriff’s deputies with the help of Wise County officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
He was arrested Tuesday afternoon in a mobile home park, where he lived in Wise County, based on a tip from his probation officer, said Terry Grisham, a Tarrant County sheriff’s spokesman.
Grisham said Merideth is a registered sex offender.
Police believe that Merideth was the man who walked into a Wells Fargo branch in Haslet, which is in northern Tarrant County, on Feb. 5 while dressed as a woman and slipped a teller a handwritten note demanding money.
After the teller stuffed cash into the robber’s flowered handbag, the robber fled on foot. No one was injured.
