Six Flags expects big crowds for Good Friday, Easter weekend
09:05 PM CDT on Thursday, March 20, 2008
Students and thrill seekers eager to squeeze a little fun out of the holiday weekend might want to pack their patience, Six Flags Over Texas officials say.
The Arlington theme park has called in extra staff and will open at 10 a.m. Friday, 30 minutes earlier than scheduled, to accommodate Easter holiday and spring break crowds. The theme park will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
The holiday hubbub caused major traffic delays Thursday along Interstate 30 and on southbound State Highway 360 near North Carrier Parkway/Northeast Green Oaks Boulevard to Six Flags Drive.
Sharon Parker, a spokeswoman for the theme park, said parkgoers should assess traffic conditions and avoid peak travel times in the morning and late afternoon. Visitors may also want to consider attending the park on Sunday, said Ms. Parker.
The weekend forecast calls for mild and sunny weather through Saturday, but rain is expected Sunday.
