Southlake high school volleyball coach accused of lewd act in park

10:23 AM CDT on Tuesday, April 21, 2009

WFAA-TV

The head volleyball coach at Southlake Carroll Senior High School has been arrested.

Police said she was caught performing a lewd act with a man at a Roanoke park.

Police say Wyvonne Walling, 45, was in a pickup with the man near the pool at Fairplay Park when the arrest occurred last Thursday morning.

Julie Thannum, a Carroll ISD spokeswoman said this morning that Walling was still under contract and declined to provide further details. "We do not comment on personnel matters," she said.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the man, a grocery store manager, was also taken into custody. The newspaper identified him as Barry Luckie, 45, of Bartonville.

According to the newspaper, a police officer was patrolling near the park when he saw the man in the pickup.

When the officer approached the truck, he saw Walling performing a sex act on Luckie, the Star-Telegram reported.

Walling and Luckie were released from custody after posting bail of $1,000 each.

The Star-Telegram said that in addition to coaching volleyball, Walling is the interim girls' athletic director, head of the physical education department and an assistant track coach.

She also teaches a teen leadership class, the paper quoted a school district official as saying.

DMN staff writer Sarah Perry contributed to this report.
