Texas Giant roller coaster remains closed at Six Flags in Arlington
03:47 PM CDT on Tuesday, June 30, 2009
The Texas Giant roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington will remain closed as engineers try to determine whether the ride is safe for thrill seekers, a park spokeswoman said today.
Six Flags spokeswoman Sharon Parker said a supervisor detected a problem with a car on the track Monday afternoon and stopped the ride. About two dozen people on board got off safely.
Parker said engineers were trying to determine the problem and could not provide any more specifics on whether the problem was with the car or the track.
She said other rides at the park were operational.
Earlier this month, New York-based Six Flags filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Six Flags operates 23 theme parks in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, including Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor in Arlington and Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio.
