WESTLAKE — Ohmygod! The Jonas Brothers are moving to North Texas? For real?

Tarrant County records indicate that members of the Jonas Brothers – the brother band turned pop cult craze – granted power of attorney to their mother, Denise Jonas, for the purpose of buying a six-bedroom house in Vaquero, a gated community in Westlake. The documents were signed June 12.

The real estate agent who listed the house on Wisteria Way at more than $2.8 million confirmed Monday that it had been sold but said the contract prohibited her from commenting further. At least one resident reported spotting the Jonas Brothers at Vaquero.

The publicist for the group, which began a nationwide tour last month, declined to comment.

But the whispers Monday among Westlake tweens centered around the idea that their heartthrob trio soon would appear on more than poster-covered walls and YouTube videos.

"Yeah, I heard they are moving into the area!" 9-year-old Emily Clark said with wide eyes as she jumped out of the pool at Westlake's Solana Club. They're coming in three months, she said with an air of certainty.

None of the adults at the fitness club or even those across the street at Westlake's town square knew about the new kids on the block.

"I haven't heard anything yet," Keller resident Shannon White said as she grabbed lunch at Weinberger's Delicatessen. "But I will. My daughter is going to freak."

She said the 10-year-old is still fuming because she didn't get birthday tickets to the group's Dallas concert this month.

Even former Westlake Mayor Randy Corn admitted adults had to leave the fact-finding to the experts. "All I've seen of the Jonas Brothers is on the shirts of all the girls at the swimming club," he said.

If the boy band does decide to return home – Nick was born in Dallas, although the boys grew up in New Jersey and now live in Los Angeles County – it still won't be easy to stage a stake-out.

A high stone fence surrounds Vaquero, and cars enter through manned gates. Residents on Wisteria Way are used to celebrity neighbors. Pro golfers Todd Hamilton, Ben Crane and Brandt Jobe live in the upscale community, as does major leaguer Mark Teixeira, former Cowboy Drew Bledsoe and Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw. Stars captain Brenden Morrow and PGA Tour player Corey Pavin own property as part of memberships at the Vaquero Club.

"This is the place to be right now," said Paula Whiting, The Solana Club sales manager.

Pro golfer Brian Watts, who lives on Wisteria, discovered he had new neighbors when he returned from Japan.

"I didn't even know who the Jonas Brothers were or what kind of music they played," Mr. Watts said. "But my wife and kids were enthralled. I've seen them from a distance, and they seem like down-to-earth kids. Word spreads fast. (PGA Tour player) Bo Van Pelt texted me, saying, 'I told my daughter that the Jonas Brothers were your neighbors. She told me that she wants to go live with the Watts.' "

Van Gogh-style haystacks dot fields leading up to Vaquero. There's no Starbucks for miles. Except for the anticipatory young females, this rural setting is worlds away from what the Jonas Brothers have been experiencing since Kevin, 20, Joe, 18 and Nick, 15, hit teen idol status.

They're just about to release their third album, A Little Bit Longer , and tour relentlessly.
