Salvation Army to offer cooling stations across North Texas

06:21 AM CDT on Wednesday, July 30, 2008

The Salvation Army hopes to provide relief from scorching weather with temporary cooling stations at 15 North Texas locations in Dallas, Tarrant, Ellis and Denton counties.

Cooling stations will offer cold water, tips for battling the heat and free electric fans for qualifying applicants. Social workers will also be onsite to discuss financial assistance.

Each location also will accept donations of new electric fans for those in need.

Salvation Army cooling stations will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
