The end is nigh for Texas Stadium – and the Dallas Cowboys are already counting down.

As construction crews ready a behemoth new home for America's team in Arlington, a Cowboys marketing campaign is focusing on the last season in the 37-year-old Irving landmark with the famed hole in the roof.

Fans are invited to an open practice at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the stadium for the first time in more than 15 years. The event is billed as the kick-off to the Cowboys' "Farewell to Texas Stadium" season. There's already a Web site by the same name featuring memories from fans and players and highlights from some of the most memorable Cowboys moments in the stadium.

Fans can purchase seats – not tickets, but the actual seats themselves – at www.dallascowboys.com. And QVC, which on Monday aired a two-hour Texas Stadium special, is selling farewell season memorabilia.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys and the city of Irving, which owns the stadium, are gearing up to decide how the keys will be turned over next year. They will also determine what other stadium memorabilia might be sold once the last game is played at Texas Stadium, which will eventually be torn down so the site can be redeveloped.
