A Wylie teenager died early Saturday morning after the pickup he was riding in crashed, the Dallas County medical examiner said.

Shane Cox, 16, was ejected from the pickup after it crashed in the 2200 block of Beaver Creek Road in Wylie, the medical examiner said. He was flown by Careflite to Parkland Memorial Hospital, where he died around 12:50 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses said that around midnight, the pickup swerved quickly back and forth along Beaver Creek Road, causing Mr. Cox to fall out and hit his head on the road.

It was unknown whether he was driving.
