Radio host Russ Martin faces misdemeanor assault charges

FORT WORTH — A Tarrant County grand jury has issued misdemeanor assault charges against radio talk show personality Russ Martin.
The panel last week returned a three-count misdemeanor complaint against the Live 105.3 FM host but declined to indict him on more serious charges.
Mr. Martin, 47, was arrested July 18 by Southlake police after his fiancé accused him of striking her and brandishing a gun. He was initially arrested on a charge of aggravated assault, a second degree felony.
Mr. Martin’s criminal case will be transferred to the county’s criminal misdemeanor court, said Tarrant County assistant district attorney David Hagerman. If convicted, Mr. Martin faces up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
