Middle school students taken to hospital after bus accident in Anna
08:37 AM CST on Thursday, November 20, 2008
Several middle school students were injured Wednesday afternoon in Anna when a school bus crashed into a telephone pole, authorities said.
According to police, the driver lost control of the bus around 4 p.m. while driving on FM 455, causing the bus to veer off the road and into a pole.
About 30 or 40 Anna Middle School students, ranging in age from 12 to 14, were in the bus at the time of the accident, said Anna Police Chief Ken Jenks.
Some of them sustained minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital, he said.
Anna police are still investigating what might have caused the driver, who was not identified, to lose control. Anna is located in Collin County.
Mr. Jenks said the driver’s blood would most likely be drawn for a blood-alcohol test.
