An Argyle school district educator was arrested Monday and charged with having an improper relationship with a student.

Brian Lee Davidson

Brian Lee Davidson, 30, of Justin, posted $5,000 bail Tuesday and was released from Denton County Jail.

He could not be reached for comment.

According to an Argyle police affidavit of probable cause, Davidson sent a 16-year-old female student several text messages with sexual content in them and made sexual comments to her on the telephone.

The victim reported that, while she was in class, Davidson called a substitute teacher and asked her to send the student to his classroom, according to the affidavit.

“Mr. Davidson touched her on the leg and kissed her on the ear and cheek. The victim said that he got behind her and grabbed her pigtails and pulled her toward him, acting out a sexual position,” the affidavit stated.

Reference to this incident was made in one of the text messages, according to the affidavit.

The victim said in the affidavit, “she believed his intentions were to have sex with her and she believed it would’ve happened over the Christmas break because she wouldn’t be able to come up with anymore excuses not to meet him.”

Argyle Police Chief William Tackett said the investigation is continuing.

Argyle school district Superintendent Jason Ceyanes said Wednesday the teacher has been put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal school district investigation, which likely will last through January.

After the investigation, school leaders will take the necessary action, he said.

He said the school district has been working with the Argyle Police Department.

“We are going to do whatever is in the best interest of our students,” he said, and their health and safety is the school district’s No. 1 priority.

According to the Argyle school district’s Web site, Davidson is the head tennis coach at the high school and teaches boys athletics at the middle school.

Tackett asked that anyone with information on the case call Argyle police at 940-464-7254.
