WEB SITE OF THE WEEK
12:00 AM CDT on Saturday, June 21, 2008
preview.gospelcom.net
Before watching a movie with children, how much research do you do? Are you relying on previews or word of mouth? Do you screen it in advance? If you're concerned about sex, violence, language or problem themes, several Web sites offer advice. This Christian site's home page provides a glance at the most recent releases, granting each movie an entertainment and morality rating. Mongol, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Prince Caspian fare well. The Happening and What Happens in Vegas do not.
Clicking on a title takes readers to an expanded review and summary. For example, Kung Fu Panda has no profanity and no nudity but a great deal of violent imagery. Speed Racer includes a misuse of Jesus' name and a questionable use of the Hallelujah Chorus.
