H is for Henotheism

h Henotheism, which means "one God," describes a belief system that honors and worships one God but also recognizes that other gods exist and acknowledges that followers of other religions worship a different god or even multiple gods. Hinduism is widely considered henotheistic. Some scholars say that sections of the Old Testament reflect a henotheist view – before the Israeli people accept Yahweh as the one true God. For example, Deuteronomy 5:6-7: "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me."
