Coker

Name: Louellen Sue Coker

Occupation: writer, editor and graphics designer; president and owner of Content Solutions.

Birth date and place: Oct. 24, 1968; Pasadena.

Family: husband, Duane, 38.

The one thing I enjoy most about my work is: I enjoy always learning something new and having my creativity constantly challenged.

My business philosophy is: Listen to my customer and understand their wants and needs to create a product that meets their goals.

If I could, I’d be a: travel writer and photographer.

I’m so sick of: people who drive below the speed limit on two-lane roads and don’t move to the shoulder (when it’s safe, of course) to let you pass.

The four guests at my fantasy dinner party would be: Maya Angelou, Bono and The Edge from the rock band U2, and my husband.

My hobbies are: running — I've raised several thousand dollars for diabetes education and research through different marathon training programs as a member of Team Diabetes with the American Diabetes Association (2001 Mardi Gras Marathon) and most recently with the Diabetes Action Team (2006 Marine Corps Marathon), sailing, snowboarding and traveling.

The last books I read were: It’s Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life by Lance Armstrong and Sally Jenkins and The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella.

I wish I knew how to: speak and write Spanish fluently.

My worst habit is: multi-tasking when I talk with friends or family members on the phone.

Nobody knows I: fell in love with my husband during our first “real” conversation when we were 15 years old — we started talking before church and passed notes throughout the service. By the time church let out, I knew he was “the one.”

The person I most admire is: Maya Angelou.

My guilty pleasure is: eating my mother-in-law’s date candy — I could eat a whole batch in one sitting if I let myself.

I drive a: 2006 Volkswagen Jetta TDI.

I’d like to be driving a: the first sailboat that crosses the finish line in the next regatta I sail in.

My favorite restaurant is: Denton has so many good ones I couldn’t name just one. I frequently visit Rudy’s for a quick and healthy breakfast or lunch and Royal East Asian Cuisine for Korean food.

I’m happiest when: I’m spending time with my husband and/or close friends.

I regret: I can’t think of anything I truly regret.

If I won the lottery, here’s what I’d do just for me: I’d travel to Tanzania and climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

If I could change one thing about Denton, it would be: the road construction on Loop 288 between Interstate 35 and Highway 380 and access to Interstate 35 from southeastern Denton County.

Community activities: Women Business Owners of Denton County, president elect; Lone Star Community of the Society for Technical Communication, immediate past president; Denton Chamber of Commerce. Also, I teach Technical Communication at North Central Texas College, where I integrate service learning into the course curriculum.
