This weekend, Golden Triangle Mall is welcoming collectibles dealer Forever Famous, along with several other businesses coming on board in August.

Denton Costume and Design is opening Aug. 1 inside the mall at Loop 288 and Interstate 35E. Dickies & More, which sells scrubs, is also coming soon.

Ongoing construction along the loop has caused concern in the past year for mall officials, but they have seen improvement since two lanes opened up, allowing easier access.

Word is a couple of restaurants are eyeing the Square and surrounding blocks with plans to open this fall, if not sooner. One is proposed to be a seafood restaurant, while the other is opening a second area branch in Denton after initially opening in Corinth. As soon as specific details are available, they’ll be posted online and published in this weekly column. Be sure to check DentonRC.

Updates on Rayzor Ranch are coming soon. Though construction did not start in June as previously expected, it is slated for July or August, depending on the timing of ordinances, permits, etc., going through Denton city governmental bodies.

Developers are hoping to open a portion of Rayzor Ranch Marketplace on the north side of University Drive by next fall. Businesses that are filing initial plans to build in the proposed retail center include Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart Super Center and Lowe’s.

Wazoo’s in Argyle, which opened in January, is expecting a busy summer. The indoor center offers an opportunity for parents to bring their youngsters for playtime on inflatable bouncing houses and slides — away from the heat of North Texas. The business also offers a “parents’ night out” program on Fridays.

Franchise owner Lesley Manuel bought Wazoo’s after seeing one in Austin. The Argyle Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to kick off the summer for the business. For more information, call 940-380-0300.

Owner T.L. Rouk II is celebrating the sixth anniversary of Po Chi Lam Bodywork with a traditional Chinese lion dance, which is performed to ward off evil spirits and usher in good fortune and luck.

The celebration also includes an open house, giveaways and an opportunity for youngsters to make their own Chinese medicinal herbal paste.

The free event at 509 S. Locust St. begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Po Chi Lam Bodywork offers therapeutic massage, tuina, guasha, moxibustion, cupping, herbal teas, soaks and traditional Chinese herbal medicine as well as classes for the public.

The Cancer Center at Denton Regional Medical Center recently opened the final phase of the center. The addition of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders allows the hospital to offer comprehensive oncological services at one location, according to a news release.

The center, accredited by the Joint Commission and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, offers radiation, chemotherapy, diagnostic imaging, inpatient services, nutrition, education and rehabilitation.

The second phase of the project is headed by Dr. Gus Gonzalez and is located in the Denton Regional Professional Office building. Another addition is the new cancer resource library, which offers information to patients and families in making decisions with a variety of health-related materials, resources and services.
