William and Joann Calmes of Aubrey were married on Father’s Day, June 21, 1959, and on Father’s Day, June 21, 2009 celebrated their 50th anniversary. They were married at Highland Baptist Church in Denton with the Reverend H.M. Riek officiating. The couple has been celebrating their lives together ever since.
William retired from the U.S. Postal Service as postmaster of Aubrey. Joann retired from a teaching career in Aubrey.
They are active members of Midway Baptist Church. In addition, they enjoy traveling, RVing, and enjoying grandchildren.
Their children are Mitchell and wife Beth Calmes of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania East Africa and Gary and Lynn Calmes of Denton. Also, there are six precious grandchildren; Stephi, Caity, and Abbey of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Haley, Zach and Colt of Denton.
The couple will celebrate at a later date on a Mediterranean Cruise.
