Clara and Jerry Richards of Denton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, May 29, 2009. Theirs is a love story with an unusual beginning. They met on Friday the 13th, on a blind date. It “must” have been love at first sight! Clara told her friend I’m going to marry that boy!”.Jerry must have felt the same, because six weeks later on May 29, 1959 in Argyle, Texas, the day after Clara’s 19th birthday, they married.
Jerry is retired from Argyle Mechanical and Clara from the Denton Central Appraisal District.
They have three children, Mike Richards and wife Anna of San Antonio, Lisa Quinones of Denton and Sam Richards of Hot Springs, Arkansas. They have six granddaughters, Natalie, Tiffany, Tara, Amber, Courtney and Katherine. Six great-grandchildren, Jonah, Nathan, Macy, Mia, Hunter and Maddie.
