Watkins
12:01 AM CDT on Sunday, June 21, 2009
Judy and Murray Watkins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 20, 2009. They were surprised with a limousine ride to Five Sixty Restaurant at Reunion Tower in Dallas, where they were treated to a dinner hosted by their children. The couple was married on June 20, 1959, at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Snyder, Texas. Murray’s uncle, Reverend Walter Devers, performed the ceremony. They spent their honeymoon at Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Murray is retired from the Denton County Sheriff’s Department, where he served for 27 years. Judy retired from Denton County where she served as Assistant Director of Purchasing for 10 years. Prior to that, she had worked as a Planner for Peterbilt Motors. They are active members of First Baptist Church and have resided at the same address in Denton for 38 years.
They have two children, Rick and wife Carol Watkins, and Barry and wife Philippa Watkins, all of Denton. Their favorite pastime is spending time with their four grandchildren, Kacie, Cody, Joy and Shirlee.
Friends and family may leave messages and notes of congratulations on their anniversary website at www.murrayandjudy.com
