Marketing administrator wins group’s top award
Carolyn Barnes, associate vice president for marketing and communication for TWU, received the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education District IV during the district’s annual conference April 5-9 in Little Rock, Ark.
The award is the highest honor given by CASE District IV to advancement professionals. Barnes received the award for her leadership and service to the profession, TWU and CASE.
Barnes served on the CASE International Commission on Communications and Marketing and three terms on the CASE IV Board of Directors.
T. Cay Rowe, assistant vice president for university advancement at Texas State University, chaired the selection committee that chose Barnes for the award.
“She fills in wherever there is a need with programming, advising, leadership, mentoring and organizing,” Rowe said in a news release.
Pie-throwing event today raises money
A fundraiser called “Pie Your Professor’s Face for FACE AIDS” is set for 2 to 7 p.m. today in front of TWU’s Hubbard Hall. Participants who buy tickets will be able to throw pies at professors. The event’s purpose is to raise $1,000 for AIDS patients in Rwanda, and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit that purpose.
