Commencement events planned for May 9-10

About 2,900 UNT students are expected to receive degrees in 2008 spring commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10.

This semester, 578 master’s students and 73 doctoral students will receive degrees.

The master’s commencement ceremony is at 4 p.m. May 9, and the doctoral commencement and hooding ceremony is at 7 p.m. May 9. Three baccalaureate commencement ceremonies will be at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. May 10.

The master’s and baccalaureate ceremonies will be in the UNT Coliseum, at Highland Street and North Texas Boulevard. The doctoral ceremony will be in Murchison Performing Arts Center, on Interstate 35E at North Texas Boulevard.

Fashion show features seniors’ original designs

UNT College of Visual Arts and Design students created distinct fashions for a runway show at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Silver Eagle Suite at the University Union.

About 250 garments from 41 seniors will be judged, and only the top 120 garments will be exhibited in the show. Judges are April Wilson of J.C. Penney; Marianne Stayer-Phillips of Star­dust Creations; Christi Egeland of Wade College in Dallas; Vincent Falsetta of UNT; Cari Chaney, a design consultant; and Kelly McCall, a fashion stylist.
