UNT, Health Science Center receive grants
The University of North Texas and its Health Science Center have been awarded grants totaling $180,000 by Texas Guaranty to provide financial literacy counseling and tutoring services for students.
The two grants to the UNT campuses were part of the $5.6 million that Texas Guaranty awarded nationally to 49 institutions and nonprofit organizations through its public benefit grant program to advance access to college, student retention and educational research.
UNT will use its $59,365 grant to fund its “Student to Student” financial success project to provide money management training and counseling to students. The UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth will receive a grant for $120,900 to provide a new peer-tutoring program for approximately 200 academically at-risk students.
