Art springs forward downtown

01:26 PM CDT on Tuesday, March 30, 2010

One of Denton’s younger gallery and studios opens its spring exhibition this weekend.

A Creative Art Studio gives space to more than 20 artists — many of whom art buffs can meet during the opening reception from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the studio and gallery, 227 W. Oak St., Suite 101.

The show has something for just about every taste: paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor; stained glass; fused glass; mosaic glass; photography; pottery; wood and clay sculpture; and jewelry.

The opening reception also features live music by the Dana Isaac Trio — Dana and Deke Isaac and Robert Hokamp — which will cover everything from jazz to Irish music. Dana’s daughter, Tess, will join in on the fiddle for a tune or two.

The group will play from 4 to 6 p.m. The Boxcar Bandits, an eclectic bluegrass outfit that recently played North by 35 Music Conferette, will perform from 6 to 8 p.m.
