Not into fireworks and mosquitoes? Zest of Yore plays Dan’s on Saturday night.

Tonight, locals can get a sneak preview of Denton guitarist Thad Bonduris and Janny McClure. The duo will play the Denton Noon Kiwanis Club Fireworks show on Saturday.

Bonduris has taught guitar and other stringed instruments to Denton students for years, but he’s long kept up his chops by playing gigs all over town. The show starts at 5:30 p.m.

On Friday night, the Slow Burners and the Drams play. The Slow Burners is made up of Little Grizzly frontman George Neal and the lineup of the Denton-Dallas band Sunday Drive. The group can go from folksy to hard-driving punk in the space of a couple songs.

The Drams unites Slobberbone members Brent Best, Tony Harper and Jess Barr with Keith Killoren and Chad Stockslager of Budapest One. The Slow Burners go on at 10 p.m., and the Drams follow at 11 p.m.

If you don’t want to venture into predicted temperatures of 101 degrees on the Fourth of July at Fouts Field, Zest of Yore plays Dan’s on Saturday. The Denton-Austin hybrid band spins mellow songs and guitar pop. The show starts at 10 p.m.
