Library caters to divergent interests
10:01 AM CDT on Thursday, May 8, 2008
Denton Public Library spotlights summer events designed to engage the brain during the long holiday.
A poster contest for the library’s upcoming Animanga club is now in open competition. Entries must be turned in by Monday, June 2, at one of the three library branches. Poster entries are required to promote the new monthly club, started for teens who love Japanese animation and comic books.
An honors ceremony for the winners of the Denton Public Library’s creative writing contest is set for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Branch Library. The winning works will be posed on the library’s Web sites.
Also, a community discussion on Tuesday, “Tapped Out: The Coming Water Crunch in North Texas,” addresses possible water supply challenges in the area. The discussion’s guest speaker and facilitator will be Rodney Love of Tierra Designs.
The free seminar at North Branch addresses water conservation, regional usage projections, native plants, rainwater harvesting, and more.
