Something to crow about
10:05 AM CDT on Thursday, April 24, 2008
The Bart Crow Band is looking for a nice place to perch, preferably among other notable Texas musicians like Pat Green and bands like Asleep at the Wheel — inimitable voices of country music forever informed by red-clay culture.
The band makes a stop in Denton during the week of all things Arts & Jazz to promote its latest release, Desperate Hearts with Drift-Ring Records.
After a promising debut in 2005 (Finally), the Bart Crow Band nestled in the Top 15 of the Texas Music Chart thanks to a catchy song called “Wear My Ring.” The band serves up twangy, high-energy songs that run the gamut from tongue-in-cheek tunes to melodies about loss and regret. Crow taught himself how to play the guitar during downtime in the Army. On lead guitar is Paul Russell from Waxahachie, Drew Campbell on drums from San Marcos, Joseph Drew on bass from Canton and Hunter St. Marie also on lead guitar and slide from Galveston. Crow grew up in Maypearl, just outside of Dallas.
