Matthew Gray, of the band Matthew and the Arrogant Sea, plays Hailey’s Club on Friday night. Gray’s shoe-gazing songs percolate with surprising sounds and unexpected melodic switches. As the anchor of his namesake indie pop band, Gray has seen his work gain sudden, but deserved, appreciation. He plays Friday with Denton acts Delmore Pilcrow and Spooky Folk and Fort Worth musician Clint Niosi. Admission is $5 for ages 21 and older, $7 for those younger than 21. Expect some acoustic sounds and intriguing soundscapes.
