Argyle chamber plans clay shoot fundraiser

The Argyle Chamber of Commerce will host the second annual Argyle Chamber Classic Sporting Clay Shoot on Oct. 3 at the Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds in Slidell.

The National Sporting Clays Association event will benefit the chamber and provide scholarships for area students.

The five-person shoot will kick off at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Teams will have the chance to pair up with local celebrities and earn association points.

The event will feature lunch, a post-tournament awards dinner, live and silent auctions and raffles. Cost is $125 per shooter or $575 per team. Cost for junior shooters is $75 per shooter.

Swing a club, help an agency at golf tourney

The Communities Civic League will host the eighth annual Communities Civic League Charity Golf Classic on Oct. 27 at the Trophy Club Country Club.

Half of the proceeds will benefit the Argyle Volunteer Fire Department, with the remaining half going to various community needs. Prior recipients include Angel Tree, Metroport Meals on Wheels, Day Stay for Adults, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and the Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County.           

The four-person scramble tournament starts at noon with a chance to play 18 holes of golf with local celebrities.

The golf classic will feature a post-tournament awards cocktail party, live and silent auctions, raffles, and numerous contests.

Cost is $150 per golfer or $600 per foursome.
