Denton native Jake Pavelka, 31, is the latest leading man on ABC’s reality show The Bachelor. The Ryan High School graduate lives in Lantana and is a pilot for Atlantic Southeast Airlines. The Bachelor airs at 7 p.m. Mondays.

WEEK 6 RECAP

Jake’s task: To eliminate one woman.

Highlights: It’s time for Jake to meet the folks. Jake visited four states and the four families of his prospective brides.

The first hometown date took Jake and Gia, 26, to New York. He used the time to find out about some of her past relationships, which had been bad.

Gia knew she had been putting up a wall because she was afraid of getting hurt. Her family was protective and told Jake they didn’t want to see her hurt again.

Jake then went to Williamstown, Mass., to meet Ali, 25, for the second hometown date. She took him to her deceased grandmother’s house, who she said was like a second mother. She said the last time she brought a guy home, her mother told her how unhappy she looked. Ali’s mom gave Jake her blessing.

Next he went to Newberg, Ore., to meet Tenley’s family. Tenley, 25, took Jake to her dance studio and danced for him. Her family was cautious and protective because of her recent divorce, but they thought Tenley would be ready to get married if it came to that.

Finally, he visited Vienna, 23, in Geneva, Fla. They took a boat down the river and met her family. She proved to be a “daddy’s girl,” and her family wasn’t shocked that the other bachelorettes didn’t get along with her because she’s competitive and outspoken.

And in a shocking twist, Ali approached Jake before the rose ceremony and said if she stayed, she would get fired from her job as an advertising account manager. Jake said he wanted her to stay, but he couldn’t guarantee she would win the final rose. “If you’re falling in love with me, then you need to weigh that,” Jake said.

He tried to convince her to stay, but she kept going back and forth. “If you were mine, the choice would be easy,” Ali said. In the end, love lost out and Ali returned to work.
