Proceeds from book benefits Argyle groups

Argyle resident and writer Lynn Sheffield Simmons will donate proceeds of her nonfiction book The Place Is Argyle, Historical Facts and Recollections to the Graham-Argyle Cemetery and the Argyle Seniors’ Activities Center.

The book traces the history of Argyle through the lives of some of the families who lived in the area before it became a town.

From early pioneers through Argyle Pride Days, historical facts are enhanced by the personal recollections of those who have lived the history of the town, and who look toward the future. The life and times of the legendary outlaw Sam Bass — who made Argyle a haven in exile — are also recounted.

The Place Is Argyle is available in Denton at Hastings Books, Music & Video at 2311 Colorado Blvd., and in Argyle at Giovanni’s Pizza and Pasta at 100 Country Club Road, Suite 112, Texas Meats at 100 Country Club Road, Suite 115, and PointBank at 302 N. U.S. Highway 377.
