The regional show invites artists who live and work within a 125-mile radius to enter their art in the juried show.

Blue Abstract #1, by Dallas artist Jan Partin, was selected to be in the Visual Arts Society of Texas third annual 125-mile Exhibition.

This year, the exhibit opened in the West Gallery at Texas Woman’s University art building. Juror Judy Youngblood, a professor emeritus at the University of North Texas College of Art and Design, selected 33 artists into the exhibit. Twenty-two of those artists are members of the arts society, and 12 are Denton residents.

Youngblood selected painting, photography, fiber, prints, ceramics, and both wood and metal sculpture.

Suguru Hiraide, a Wichita Falls artist, made this metal sculpture with marble-like embellishment called Pachinko Valley.

Youngblood taught printmaking and book arts for more than 20 years. The juror recently had a piece — Untitled (1988) — acquired by the Dallas museum of Art. The piece is on exhibit in “The Lone-Star Legacy II: The Barrett Collection of Contemporary Texas Art.”
