MONDAY, July 6-10

9 a.m. to noon — Vacation Bible school at First Baptist Church Sanger, 708 S. Fifth St. in Sanger. For children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade.

During this one-week Australian-themed adventure, children can hear Bible stories, make crafts, hear motivating music, eat snacks at the G’ Day Cafe and play games at the Recreation Rock in the Family Life Center. Free.

TUESDAY

7 p.m. — Yoga With A Purpose at First United Methodist Church Krum, 1001 E. McCart St. Unlike most yoga classes, which can be a culture shock or require extreme-sport-like posing, “Yoga With A Purpose” strives to bring an awareness of the body and breathing. In this four-week session, participants will experience 45 minutes of feeling stress free, relaxed and more focused during the day and ready to unwind for the evening. SATURDAY, July 18

3 p.m. — Outer-space themed book signing, photo booth and illustrator’s show-and tell, Barnes & Noble at the Golden Triangle Mall, 2211 S. I-35E in Denton. Cheryl Crouch’s Super Ace books from the I Can Read line for ages 4 to 8 follow a futuristic space hero on humorous adventures that relate to Christian inspirational topics.

She penned the Chosen Girls series for readers 8 to 14 years of age.

Alan Stacy’s featured book, G is for Galaxy, will fire the imagination in this book of astronomy-related topics that pairs the alphabet with illustrations, poems and detailed entries on planets and space technology.

 

SUNDAY, August 2

11 a.m. — Brittany Burrows will talk about her year in the Congo at First United Methodist Church Krum, 1001 E. McCart St. Lunch will be provided afterward. Free.

FRIDAY and SATURDAY, August 28-29

6 to 10:30 p.m. — Two-day women’s retreat at First Baptist Church of Ponder, corner of FM2449 and Highway 156 in Ponder. 2009 Living Proof Live Simulcast with Beth Moore is designed to help women get away, get renewed and a get a fresh word from God.

Cost is $25.
