Gala set to benefit Advocacy Center

07:09 AM CST on Friday, January 8, 2010

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County is inviting the public to its first-ever Champions for Children gala at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Circle R Ranch in Flower Mound.

The event is set to begin with an autograph and tasting stroll and will feature George Dunham from “The Ticket” KTCK-AM (1310) as emcee.

Guests will indulge in dishes prepared by Morris Salerno of The Grotto steakhouse, Sharon Van Meter of Milestone Culinary Arts Center, Greg Tierney of Tierney’s Cafe and Tavern, Tom Welther of the Anatole Hotel, and other culinary experts from the World Master Chef Society and area restaurants.

Sports celebrities such as Tony Casillas, Jose Guzman, Dat Nguyen and Walt Garrison will be at each tasting station for autographs and photos. A live and a silent auction will feature Southwest Airlines tickets, a trip to the California wine country, a ride in a 1940s biplane, a three-hour Lake Grapevine cruise for 200, sporting event suite packages, memorabilia and much more. The band Good Question will provide entertainment.

The nonprofit organization with headquarters in Lewisville provides justice and healing for severely abused children by coordinating the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child abuse cases, according to a news release.

Tickets are $100.

To purchase tickets, become an event sponsor, or donate an auction item, visit www.cacdc.
