Air patrol cadets honored

07:03 AM CDT on Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Denton’s Civil Air Patrol Nighthawk Composite Squadron recently honored cadets Emily Crouse of Ponder and Davis Personious of Keller with the General Billy Mitchell Award, bestowing on each the title of cadet second lieutenant.

Northlake Mayor Peter Dewing was on hand at the ceremony to present the awards to the two cadets.

Only 15 percent of all the cadets who join the Civil Air Patrol achieve this award, according to 2nd Lt. Carrie Donnelly, deputy commander for cadets.

Other honors presented were:

• Brian Donnelly of Northlake was named a new cadet chief master sergeant;

• Cadets Miranda Ellinghaus and Justin Tjahjono of Denton and Peter Hansen of Keller were presented with the Wright Brothers Award, making them cadet non-commissioned officers; and

• Cadet Richard Ellinghaus of Denton received the Arnold Award, promoting him to cadet senior airman.
