Blotter: Two men stabbed during fight at New Year’s party

12:31 AM CST on Saturday, January 2, 2010

By Candace Carlisle / Staff Writer

Two men were stabbed early New Year’s Day at a party on Woodthrush Lane.

Three men arrived at the house and confronted an attendee for being seen with one of their ex-girlfriends, according to a police report.

When a fight broke out, someone pulled a knife and stabbed a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, the report stated.

Descriptions of the men’s injuries weren’t released by the police department Friday, but both were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Witnesses were unable to tell police who stabbed the men, the report stated, but told officers that one of the suspects was heard saying, “Who wants it?”

The three suspects left in a dark-colored Chevrolet or GMC Suburban before officers arrived, according to the report.

Police are investigating the incident.

Other reports

The man woke at 2 a.m. to the sound of a dog barking and a car door slamming, but he said he didn’t think anything of it at the time, the report stated.

Police were able to lift some fingerprints from the beer cans and are investigating.

900 block of Vine Street — A woman told police that her ex-boyfriend, recently released from jail, broke into her home and took her rent money, a cellphone and her digital camera, according to a police report. The couple had recently broken up, and the woman said she believes the break-in was in retaliation, the report stated.

1100 block of East Hickory Street — Someone broke into a woman’s home overnight New Year’s Eve and took a 52-inch television and a radio, according to a police report.
