Blotter: Report: Credit cards used improperly

07:17 AM CST on Friday, January 9, 2009

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

Police are investigating a report from parents that their 15-year-old son gave out four of their credit card numbers over the Internet.

The couple said Wednesday they recently noticed some charges on three of the cards that they didn’t make.

They questioned the son and he admitted that he put the credit card information on Internet sites, according to the report.

The parents have canceled the cards.

An investigation is continuing.

Other reports

700 block of Bernard Street — A 21-year-old woman told police that she and her 19-year-old husband argued New Year’s Day over his cheating on her with another woman. He choked her, she said.

She told officers that she needed a report so that she could turn him into the Army for cheating on her.

The officers took him to jail on a charge of underage drinking.

Later, his wife bailed him out of jail.

200 block of Kane Street — A man handed over a letter and a check to police Wednesday, saying he received them in the mail and believed it was a fraud.

The letter said the man had been approved for a $50,000 grant. The check was for $2,856.99 and was supposed to be deposited in his bank account and then part of it sent back for taxes on the grant.

The man said he didn’t apply for a grant and believed it was a scheme.
