Blotter: Report: Employee made threat against Victor officials

08:30 AM CST on Wednesday, January 14, 2009

By Donna Fielder / Staff Writer

An employee of Victor Equipment was overheard making a threat against company officials during layoffs Jan. 7-8, according to a Monday police report.

The employee reportedly told a co-worker at the Denton plant in the 2800 block of Airport Road that if he were laid off, he would “come back and kill these [expletive deleted].”

The man who made the threat actually was on the lay-off list, and officials of the parent company, Thermadyne, were concerned, according to the report.

Other reports

1700 block of Westwood Street — Someone broke a window of a vehicle and stole a touch-screen XOVision television/stereo combination by tearing it out of the dashboard, according to a police report.

The burglar also took a flip-down TV screen. Loss was estimated at $900.

3400 block of Joyce Lane — Officers driving through a parking lot Friday noticed a woman they recognized who was outdoors with a dog. They had information the woman was selling drugs, according to the police report, and stopped to talk to her.

She denied possessing any narcotics, but the officers noticed a bulge in her front pants pocket.

The woman said she needed to put her dog in her apartment. When the officers wanted to search her, the woman became hostile and began screaming for her boyfriend.

Officers found an “8-ball” of methamphetamine in her pocket and some marijuana, according to the police report.

12000 block of Cleveland Gibbs Road —A 17-year-old told Denton County sheriff’s deputies Monday that he left his wallet in a canoe in his front yard.

Someone took the canoe and the wallet, he said, and used his bank card at an ATM before he could get it canceled.
