Blotter: Man reports confrontation with gunman at eatery

12:12 AM CST on Sunday, January 31, 2010

By Candace Carlisle / Staff Writer

A man told police that someone pointed a gun at him in a fast-food restaurant parking lot in the 700 block of Fort Worth Drive early Saturday, according to a police report.

The man was in a lengthy drive-through line with a friend when they decided to go elsewhere to get food, the report stated.

As they were leaving the parking lot, the driver of another car allegedly pulled up behind the man’s truck and started flashing his lights, according to the report.

When the man looked behind him, the report stated, he saw the driver of a gray Dodge Charger with large wheels walk up to his truck, draw a handgun and point it at him, saying he was going to kill them.

The suspect allegedly beat on the passenger door of the victim’s truck.

The man told police that he sped away from the parking lot and went to his residence to call police, according to the report.

Police found a man driving a vehicle that fit the description the victims gave police, the report stated; however, the victims were unable to identify him as their attacker.

Other reports

600 block of West Eagle Drive — Police found a homeless man without pants sleeping under a trench coat surrounded by pornographic magazines Friday night, according to a police report. With the temperature below freezing, police couldn’t figure out why the man didn’t have his pants on, the report stated.

Police found that the man had an outstanding warrant and arrested him, according to the report. As they were searching the man — after he put on women’s underwear and his pants — officers found a pink sex toy in the sleeve of his coat, the report stated. Police also allegedly found a case on the man containing five syringes, two plastic bags and a silver spoon with a crystalline substance on it. The suspect told police he found the case in a Dumpster, the report stated.

When police searched the man again at the city jail, they found a syringe sticking out of his leg, according to the report, and determined the syringes likely were his property. When police ran tests on the residue on the spoon, they determined it was methamphetamine.

The suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

1200 block of West Hickory Street — An intoxicated man became angry with another patron at a bar early Saturday and punched the bar’s front door, shattering the glass, according to a police report. The man ran away bleeding and allegedly crawled into the bed of a stranger’s truck, trying to hide from police, the report stated.

When the owner of the truck drove away from the bar area, the driver told police, he saw a man lying in the bed of his truck. The driver was able to flag down a police officer who was searching for the suspect, and the bleeding man was arrested, the report stated.

Medics looked at the man’s wounds and determined they were superficial, according to the report. The man’s speech allegedly was slurred, and he had glassy eyes. Police arrested the suspect on public intoxication and criminal mischief charges, and he was taken to city jail.
