Blotter: Acquaintance comes between man and his truck
07:25 AM CDT on Friday, April 11, 2008
A Denton man loaned his pickup to a man he knows only by his first name to drive to Corinth to see his “other girlfriend,” according to a police report, and the man has not returned the pickup.
The victim said Wednesday that he was having a party at his house and loaned out the 1996 GMC truck, worth $12,000, about 2 a.m. Saturday. The suspect has not returned the truck, and when reached by telephone, he claims to be out of town, according to the report.
The victim told the police the suspect lives with another one of his girlfriends at a “crack house” in the 1000 block of East Hickory Street and has been seen in the truck in the neighborhood.
He wants help getting the pickup back.
Other reports
500 block of Driftwood Street — Officers responding to a report of a domestic disturbance about 11 p.m. Wednesday found a man in his yard yelling and cursing at other people in the yard. When officers tried to calm him, he said he wanted those people out of his house.
When the officers explained the people weren’t in his house, he began yelling and cursing at the officers. He was bleeding from a cut that bystanders said he inflicted on himself while tearing up furniture in his home.
His wife said he swung a machete at her and destroyed a glass table, which sprayed broken glass all over her.
The man was taken to jail on charges of aggravated assault and public intoxication.
500 block of South Woodrow Lane — An officer who was notified that a man wanted on a felony warrant was driving near the Denton County Jail tried to stop him about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. He used his lights and siren but it took several minutes to stop the car the man was driving.
During the chase, the officer saw the driver drop something out of the car window.
Finally the driver began to slow, and the passenger jumped out and ran into the woods. The officer checked the dropped property and found that it was a crumpled $20 bill. He arrested the driver on the outstanding felony warrant. Later, officers found the passenger in the woods and charged him with evading arrest.
